Productions T @BrolyWatchesMovies 5d Although this might feel like a poor man’s David Lynch, or a failed adaptation of a twilight zone episode, I think this movie is unfairly judged and criticized from start to finish. At times it does become convoluted, it stretches his hand to the breaking point, and Cameron Diaz gives one of her worst dramatic performances. With all of the negatives and gripes being said this movie stands out as a mysterious diamond in the rough that doesn’t get enough credit, especially in comparison to the many other films in the genre If this sounds remotely interesting to you, give it a chance watch with no expectations and be open minded It’s not perfect probably far from it, but I consider this movie a B+ See more Robbie L @RT80414327 Aug 22 Starts out with a great thriller concept in the first half. Not a lot of actually mysterious movies out there, so that was a pleasant surprise. Points off because several things weren't explained in the plot but overall was a good watch. The idea of being offered a simple choice with serious consequences is compelling, and it creates a strong sense of mystery early on. The performances are solid, with Cameron Diaz and James Marsden doing a good job portraying an ordinary couple faced with an unusual moral dilemma. The film builds atmosphere well, leaning into a strange, almost unsettling tone that keeps things interesting. That said, the story becomes increasingly abstract as it goes on, and not all of its ideas come together in a satisfying way. Some plot elements feel confusing or underexplained, which takes away from the impact. Overall, it’s a watchable and thought-provoking film that doesn’t fully land, but still offers enough to make it worth a look. A fair 6/10.
