Critics Consensus

David Goyer's Unborn is a tame genre effort with cheap thrills and scares that border on silliness.

Cue a creepy toddler, various demonically possessed adults and a Jewish exorcism conducted by Gary Oldman. He's a vastly better actor than the film deserves, but he can't make the script seem even slightly better than it is. Go to Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Sep 12, 2025

Aside from some genuinely creepy imagery carbon copied from better films, Goyer’s hammy attempt to incite shocks results only in laughs, while his story structure causes eye-rolls. Go to Full Review Nikki Baughan Roll Credits Nov 4, 2019

T M @RT55749265 3 days ago This is pretty stupid. A tax write off? I don't know. The screenwriter/director has a good track record but has really bombed with this one. The editing is bad, like they wanted to get through the movie as quickly as possible. The story is plain dumb and I find it in bad taste to be using the Holocaust as a backdrop to supernatural goings on. Oldman did it as a favour, Idris as he hadn't established himself in Hollywood yet. No. But if it is on a streaming service I already pay for, I would watch it again. See more Robert P @Superbad Oct 3, 2026 The Unborn is a 1.5 star Movie and I am being generous!
