Critics Consensus

Mannequin is a real dummy, outfitted with a ludicrous concept and a painfully earnest script that never springs to life, despite the best efforts of an impossibly charming Kim Cattrall.

This movie is a real curiosity. It's dead. I don't mean it's bad. A lot of bad movies are fairly throbbing with life. Mannequin is dead. The wake lasts 1 1/2 hours, and then we can leave the theater.

A pallid shopfloor fairytale with absolutely no magic to speak of.

There`s some solid talent here, but Gottlieb's overemphatic direction reduces them all to broad caricature -- the kind of crazed mugging that isn't often seen outside the boundaries of Saturday morning kiddie shows.

The tone of the film is very light but exceptionally silly.

It was fairly terrible back in 1987, and probably terribly fair by 2020 standards.

I like the movie, it is funny in a stupid way, and the characters while hamming it up, make for some interesting interactions.

I love this movie. It's a really fun 80's romance with comedy and memorable characters (especially Hollywood). I think this is a great fun movie for people who just want some fun. The music is great too.

I think its brilliant. I think the critics are stupid and they're the ones that must be dead if they don't think its good. I loved it. So great and funny.

Well, this didn't age well by any means. But it's still fun enough. It could have been a great one, but it got lost in the cheap laughs and antics.
