Ecstatic when his parents leave on vacation for a few days, high school senior Joel Goodsen cuts loose with his best friend Miles. After an attempt at securing the services of a prostitute goes slightly awry, Joel hires gorgeous Lana for a night of delight. Stunned by the amount of Lana's "bill" the next morning, Joel grows frantic after he crashes his father's Porsche. In an effort to raise lots of money fast, a desperate Joel turns the house into a brothel.

Risky Business, a movie about a nice boy losing his virginity, is a first-time director's clear failure that I normally wouldn't get belligerent about, but the picture is so confused, so strange, and so openly corrupt that I can't resist.

Risky Business is an absolute ’80s classic and the movie that made it obvious Tom Cruise was destined to be a superstar. He’s charming and funny while still being vulnerable, and effortlessly cool. The legendary white-shirt dance to "Old Time Rock and Roll" remains one of the most iconic scenes in movie history. Lana omg smoking hot! The epic Porsche scene and the Ray Ban glasses and Reed and Barton silverware comments and things like selling your bonds for some fun times- all just made sense and made the movie real. But the film is much more than that moment. It’s smart, sexy, funny, stylish, and surprisingly sophisticated. Rebecca's fantastic, her chemistry with Cruise is electric. Tangerine Dream’s score gives the movie a dreamy, seductive atmosphere that still feels fresh today. Risky Business comedy, romance, rebellion, and coming-of-age storytelling. Even tosay- wildly entertaining and endlessly rewatchable. Tom Cruise became a star after it wrapped up set in stone.

My favorite high school movie of all time with a great, star making performance by Tom Cruise. Even better than The Graduate, this spoke to me. It is a far fetched plot but being from the Chicago suburbs I recognized the teen characters well. Funny, vulgar with some classic lines, a wonderfully written screenplay, a gorgeous, outstanding Rebecca DeMornay and a wonderful Joe Pantoliano. In the Top 5 movies of the 80s.

20% rating ... The plot is incredibly dumb. Tom Cruise did an ok job acting. I just had troubles with the many glaring plot holes & storyline flaws. Not really worth the hype.
