The film's one redeeming merit is Kim Basinger, a good actress who has a sweet presence here. I cared about her character more than the character deserved to be cared about -- and more, I suspect, than the filmmakers did. Go to Full Review

Blake- N @PBSAniDom May 13, 2026 The Real McCoy ends up being a little bit of a sudden problem in how uneven it feels overall. While it has an interesting setup and the potential for a solid thriller, the execution doesn’t always hold together in a satisfying way. The pacing can feel inconsistent, with moments that seem to escalate too quickly without enough buildup or clarity. Some plot developments come across as abrupt, making it harder to stay fully engaged with the story as it unfolds. There are still a few decent performances and occasional tense moments that keep it from being a complete misfire. However, the film never fully locks into a strong rhythm, leaving it feeling uneven and undercooked. I’d rate it a 4/10. See more

Marcus T @MarcusT12 Nov 11, 2025 I have to agree with the critics on this one. Slow moving, predictable heist movie, with uninteresting and poorly developed characters. There was a slight twist at the end, but over all unsatisfying. I almost quit with 40 minutes to go. See more
