The sheer force of his portrayal of Rubin Hurricane Carter, the wrongly convicted and later released ex-boxer, is what carried this film. Carter was framed for multiple murders and sentenced to life in prison. Mr Washington captured the essence of this deep, strong and determined man. With all his caged rage and hate, you were able to feel his pain and fear. All there, locked up in the same emotion space in which the hate resided.
