Anthony S @Sundayboss 5 days ago While not a typical "college" movie of the early 2000's, it manages to keep its head above water. While showing the minority can succeed against the majority (albeit while having a little fun) See more Uncle R @MasterExploder Sep 9, 2026 I love this movie. It’s fun, and has a lot of re-watch value. The reason this movie has such a low score is because it’s not full of woke BS that the weirdos nowadays like. See more Fahim Z @fhmzhr May 21, 2026 Accepted is a charming, rebellious underdog comedy that captures the anxiety of the college-application process with a sharp, satirical bite. It is feel-good cinema at its best. The Highlights: The Premise: The idea of creating a fake college is genius, allowing for endless comedic situations that are both absurd and relatable. The Performance: The lead delivers a charismatic performance that makes you root for his ridiculous plan from the very beginning. The Heart: Beneath the jokes, the film makes a sincere argument about the flaws of higher education, adding a layer of depth to the humor. The Verdict: It is an incredibly fun ride that manages to be both hilarious and surprisingly poignant. If you are looking for a lighthearted comedy with a rebellious spirit, this is an excellent choice. See more Dr. C @drcereal Feb 24, 2026 This movie is one of the many films Rotten Tomatoes has cruelly underrated, and it's because critics are afraid of its message. It questions the intellectual basis of an existing form of education that legitimizes the US' economic system. Messages like these read like an active threat to powerful media companies who participate in an economy of that national attitude. The discrepancy between the critics and audience score, including its resurgence today, came to prove the film's point about reevaluating the status quo in both education and media/textual consumption as a whole. Sure, it might have elements that turn it into a run-of-the-mill teen "comedy," but the film's purpose tells a different story, one that doesn't just "live up to its potential" (contrary to the critics consensus), but undermines the need for gauging student and social representation based on merit and potential entirely. See more Jack F @MovieFan111 Feb 6, 2026 This is one of the very very few movies I've cried to. (I cry much more to songs). It takes a special kind of magic to make me cry, and the fact that a movie like this did it, means there's hope for us all. The reason it resonated with me so much is because after experiencing college for the first time, and THEN watching this... I couldn't help it. But there's one scene in particular that did it for me-- and that was when they were collecting ideas for what to teach. They had a large whiteboard, and they ASKED what they wanted to learn. The students could literally pick what they wanted to learn. No adults to tell them what to do. No adults saying "Oh, you can't do that." "What do you want to learn?" I will never forget this question. I find it deeply philosophical and personal, as it should with everyone. Be whatever you want to be. Learn whatever you want to learn. Because that's what life is all about. And that's what makes life awesome. No one should tell you otherwise. mic drop See more Kyle K @Kylekitzman Feb 4, 2026 If you don't like this movie, you might be missing the point entirely. It knows exactly what it is—a pure, unpretentious comedy—and it executes that perfectly. Don't blame the film for not changing your life or delivering profound revelations; that's not its job. It's here to make you laugh, help you escape, and let you forget your problems for a couple of hours. Mission accomplished. See more Read all reviews
