This film falls short of what it is trying so hard to emulate. Almost Popular is a wannabe Mean Girls, but it lacks the complexities that made the 2004 film iconic.

Almost Popular, on the other hand, doesn’t offer enough to cover up that sense of mimicry. It would’ve been better served if, instead of just copying Mean Girls, it could’ve stolen some of that film’s zest as well.

who is this for exactly? it's like an adult examined the current Gen z social media popularity trope and made a movie out of it. With weird old political references and lots of POV camera angles and the lack of ADULTS AND CLASSROOMS, this movie is just a stylized mutation of mean girls.

Didn't see the whole movie the sound was painfully loud in the theatre, although we complained. The beginning of the movie was silly, with amateurish acting. Do not recommend!

The movie was mid. A lot of the messages were lackluster. They also tried to push more gay people coming out. Which was showed in one of the worst ways possible. Still an enjoyable movie.

This is a unique movie that hits all the right notes for teens and their parents alike. It brings a keen knowledge and the sharp tongue of modern online life, yet also an old-school sensibility that's rare these days -- but will never go out of style. The person who wrote this film has pitch-perfect ear for dialogue. The acting, photography and overall production value are both sharp and endearing -- and the sly soundtrack made me smile multiple times throughout. More movies like this, please. Go stream it. Watch it your kid. Or your mom. You'll all love it. Me and my son sure did. -David
