The focus on positivity in the wake of incredible horrors is a life-affirming message, but the visually magnificent film around it is sometimes exhausting because it's so profoundly sad.

The color red, appearing somewhere in the frame in nearly every scene, is the film’s true star.

A deep exploration of the emotionally complex connection between the human heart and the afterlife, this film vividly captures life's painfully heavy truths with delicate care.

Messy and, at times, implausibly ambitious, the animation stuns as the story tries to reckon with themes that are almost too large for a single movie to contain.

Another World starts like a comforting Miyazaki film, then turns darker as it enters the abyss. Immersing the audience in both extremes is a strength as well as a weakness, as it asks viewers to switch between polar emotions with jolting suddenness.

Another World is one of the most beautiful and well crafted animated films I have ever seen. I first saw it premiere at the Annecy International Animation Festival in 2025, and ever since I have been desperate to get my hands on it, just waiting for a chance to see it again. The narrative, the animation, and the music are all just perfect. That moment when you realize it’s been Yuri all along is one of the best and most emotional payoffs in any movie I’ve seen the past few years. Thank you Point Five for making such a creative masterpiece of a film!!!

The drawing as beautiful as the story. Thoughtful and deep. Makes you think about how life is made of cycles. Beautiful.

Absolute masterpiece which gives a lot of thought to reincarnation, souls, what happens after death, how you carry weight throughout the choices you make. The visuals were stunning and even though the pacing was confusing at times, it was beautifully woven together at the end. Loved it

2026 is a strong year for animation, but "Another World" may be the most emotionally engaging and thoughtful entry. The stripped down animation not only harkens to the anime that made us first love the genre but also emphasizes the VA work. I give it a 9.5/10 and recommend seeing it on any legal platform.

Tommy Ng Kai Chung's Another World is thematically hefty, & has some truly nail-biting action scenes, all of which tend to overpower its underlying hopeful moral. That said, it's an absolutely breathtaking visual spectacle, and well worth watching on the biggest screen possible.
