Jacob B @JB3.0 1 day ago Tried giving Awake the benefit of the doubt, since it does seem to have a small fanbase, but I found it underwhelming. To go into low-hanging fruit mode: Awake? More like Asleep! It's a shame because there are good things about it like a premise that definitely seems disturbing on paper, the mother-son dynamic is the best part of the movie and acting that isn't as bad as critics would have you believe. The issue comes from a story struggling to justify its runtime. It's short, but uneven pacing calls more attention to the fact that this probably would've worked better as a Twilight Zone episode than a film and having our hero go through an out-of-body experience only exists to give Hayden Christensen something to do. It's also simply not very thrilling, which likely isn't helped by the hero's predicament and no supernatural elements to save him here, with his one "big" moment getting turned into a cruel bait-and-switch. In conclusion, Awake might have its fans but I ain't one of them. See more

Alex T @Arlilang28 Aug 27, 2026 Awake is a master work in creating a strong and complex narrative that is also able to fit in the 80 minute runtime. Though it initially struggles with showing v.s. telling, there is symbolism that can be very easily missed by taking the literal meaning of things. Most characters have a very well rounded arc for better or for worse, though it's disappointing that the narration flips from Clayton's perspective to a broader point of view to encompass plot points the writers were unable to fit in naturally. However, it is a great movie for people who either want something to follow idly with the element of surprise but also be able to really dig into the symbolism and allusion if they wish. See more

Benjamin H @RT03626419 Aug 5, 2026 This movie is a mystery so ridiculous and so unbelievable that its plot shouldn't be as interesting or captivating as it is. See more

KatieKat T @RT51933725 Aug 1, 2026 This movie was an awakening for me. Hayden Christensens acting was phenomenal and the plots twists caught me completely off guard. The insanely well thought out plot had me on the edge of my seat the entire last half of the movie, and I was yelling at the screen rooting for Clayton the whole time. Furthermore, ending was absolutely amazing and gave great closure to the film. Overall 10/10 would strongly recommend watching after experiencing this masterpiece of a film, which was infinitely more amazing because of Hayden. See more

Guillaume D @RT08210295 Jun 20, 2026 Oh god... stumbled on this on Netflix. When I saw Hayden Christensen in the actors list I should have known. Well, he's as full of life and as convincing in this movie than in Anakin's role. The whole thing is predictable, badly acted, corny, and just plain boring. Spare yourself an open chest surgery, don't watch this. See more
