Fun fact: Much of the dialogue is improvised and the actors were unaware of what types of scares they’d experience! They really hiked and camped for days! The found-footage format, shaky images, tense arguments and seemingly improvised dialogue turn something as simple as getting lost into genuinely physical terror. However, the unseen threat occasionally made the illusion fall apart, since I became too aware of the characters performing fear. I also have mixed feelings about the ending: its ambiguity allows imagination to become part of the horror, but I still wanted one final moment that made the danger feel more tangible. Even so, I really liked the experience and realized how naturally drawn I am to found-footage horror when it makes fear feel this immediate. It feels very authentic, that the characters are being hunted by an evil entity, and that contributes to the excellent acting from the three characters. See more Read all reviews
