The film's strongest element is Renée Zellweger, whose performance gives Bridget a natural mixture of vulnerability, confusion and comic timing. She makes social awkwardness feel human rather than merely exaggerated. Some of the humor can feel childish in specific moments, but it rarely overwhelms the film.
