jon c 12/13/2019 Despite being full of countless stereotypes this is actually an accurate portrayal of the student body. Everyone knows there's a good chain; the ones that are deemed weaker, less popular, and less known are at the bottom while at the top are the cool ones, the A-listers and Kong's and queens. Christy Carlson Romano plays Violet? the daughter of a reporter moving to a new high school. Sadly she find it more like a ruling dictatorship than anything. Even the school newspaper is largely ignored with one of its editors in chief Cornelia. But when they decide to take back their rightful place in the social order they hatch a scheme to turn the paper into a gossip column. Soon they uncover tons of dirty secrets about almost everybody from students to teachers. It definitely puts the outcasts back on the map but maybe it's overkill when Violet realizes people might actually get hurt from all the exposure. You can't just make up a story and print it for all to see. Halfway through Violet starts to worry about Cornelia turning into the very thing she despises. Can she fix it all and still have a promising life in high school? This is one of Romano's more enjoyable pictures outside of the Disney Channel. You do feel the excitement of the juiciness of the stories she finds out. You learn about equality in the classroom, but you discover it in real life. Everyone is entitled to their secrets. There's no such thing as a normal high school. High school is supposed to be about learning and teamwork not separating people like animals on a farm. Even the oppressed can become the oppressors and that's just as dangerous. It is tough to be the new kid but even way more tougher to actually survive a hierarchy like high school. The movie still tells us it's important to include everyone, not exclude them because they don't fit our social circle, respect their deepest darkest secrets, and not to sink to even the baddest persons level. I think everybody can relate to this scenario whether currently at high school or post life. See more 09/08/2017 As much as I like Christy Carlson Romano I can't say I liked this movie at all. Not really good, but original here and there, making it watchable. No need to be too positive about the acting, and hopefully no need to relate it in any way to real life.
