I honestly like this messy love triangle story; it brings catchy tunes and fun vibes despite a forced ending. What Worked: • Pritam’s soundtrack is a banger; the Sufi and techno mix completely carries the movie. • Padukone totally steals the show as Veronica, bringing chaotic, heartbreaking energy. • On-location London streets give the messy friendship a gorgeous, vibrant backdrop. The Friction: • The “traditional vs. party girl” trope honestly felt outdated and rubbed me the wrong way. • The hospital part really dragged for me when I just wanted them to resolve the tension. Verdict: Watch for a breezy Bollywood flick with an amazing soundtrack. Skip if outdated female tropes annoy you. However, this movie presents two characters who are extreme versions of real-life personalities, which kept things somewhat interesting. The story does move as a messy pace at times and hits a few predictable notes, but I liked the characters in the movie enough to say this movie is fine for a one time watch. I think the movie has some interesting ideas about what people's expectations are for relationship partners and wished the movie focused more on exploring that. The ending of the movie felt a bit safe and I thought the whole last act was very dragged out and longer than it needed to be. Overall, it isn't a perfect romance movie and it also isn't the best, but I think it is a solid one with that hits occasional realistic notes that keep it unique enough. See more Read all reviews
