Horror master Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan) directs a new Korean zombie thriller starring Gianna Jun and Koo Kyo-hwan. Professor Se-jeong (Jun) is thrust into a bloody nightmare when a rapidly mutating virus is released during a biotech conference causing authorities to seal the facility. Trapped inside with no escape, Se-jeong along with a small group of survivors must fight to stay alive while the infected undergo horrific transformations.

Edited at a wild pace, the action sequences are nerve-wracking and make for a wacky combo of scary and grisly funny. “Colony” builds to a decent finale but the first part of the film is its strongest.

The characters had very little purpose and no character arc. Some were also so annoying and unreasonable. Very unrealistic outcomes throughout. Train to Busan is levels above this one. I just couldn’t get myself to believe in the plot due to the lack of realism and logic.

Another K-Horror banger. Crammed into this movie (and into the building) are several characters each given a personality and something to work towards. The stakes are high for the entirety of the film. Very well acted and shot. Highly recommend this one.
