It shows perfectly imperfect human beings who have to confront their imperfections. It's a film that, in my opinion, is fundamentally about the notion of forgiveness, which is so essential in this imperfect world. See more 12/27/2020 Been waiting for years to see Jean-Marc Vallee's ("Wild" "Dallas Buyer's Club" "Big Little Lies") breakthrough, and aside from feinting and soft-peddling the gay subplot, it turned out to be a beautifully drawn portrait of fathers, sons and brothers, and coming of age in the 70's and early 80's.
