Jelisije J @jjosifovic Apr 12 The first 30 minutes isn't well acted or even really good, but this film later gives of a connection that was missing in the first act when they decided to focus on two parts of the story that actually matters. See more Bill T @Spuzzlightyear 04/26/2023 In all honesty, this movie should be called "Crispin Glover's Crime and Punishment", because he adds, well, a uniqueness to his portrayal of the lead character. Glover is just SO much that it almost detracts from the story (which in this version is actually quite good) and leads others (like Vanessa Redgrave for crying out loud) to overcompensate. Still it's fun to see this one when you've seen all the others. See more 09/19/2016 There isn't much to see here, as the plot is quite simple: a man kills and spends the entire film dreading his capture by the police. However, Crispin Glover's performance of a man riddled with guilt and fear (what he does best) is worth seeing, as he encapsulates every emotion with authenticity and complex emotion. The scenes are dark and close, which compliments the story nicely, and Crispin Glover is humorous, creepy and likeable all at once, delivering a good performance as Raskolnikov. Crispin Glover is irritating and unconvincing in the lead role. Cinematography is drab, like the movie was made in the 1960s. Direction is listless, with no imagination.
