I would give this movie a 0/5 stars if it was possible See more Turkey F @Wiansw Mar 18 Personally, I think that this movie would be rated much better if it wasn't related to the Manga or Anime. This movie isn't all too bad, it does occasionally contradict (e.g. Watari getting controled by the death note despite not having his last name written down) itself, it has some strange changes from the source material and some dialog doesn't make too much sense if you think about it too hard. I thought that the casting was really good, Willem Dafoe makes a pretty good God of death and L's actor (Sorry, I don't know his name) was also pretty good considering the story. My only problem is that Ryuk doesn't have much screentime and the characters feel a bit 2 dimensional. I also miss the convouluted plots of the original, but I suppose it would make the Movie too long if they had to explain plans half the movie.
