And the critters are brought to life through actual practical effects, which greatly adds to their charm, as does the absolute conviction of the human actors playing opposite them, bringing Monty Python-level commitment to the bit.

I give it 10/10. I love sword and sorcery films. This paid a nice homage to the original Deathstalker series, the Masters of the Universe, the Army of Darkness, and some others. The film has great practical effects, gore, action, and just enough comedy. Unlike most films of this genre, there is no gratuitous sex or nudity. I drove a 3.5 hour round trip to see a movie with 1 hr 42 min run-time. That's how good it was.

Great movie that knew exactly what it was. An awesome reboot of a sword and sorcery franchise that didn't fall into the trap of trying to be realistic or gritty. Not a single actor phoned in their performance, you can tell every one of them was having a blast making it. If you like sword and sorcery with awesome soundtracks, you'll love DEATHSTALKER

Deathstalker was an 80s classic of the italian Sword & Sorcery genre which was fed a diet of Conan the Barbarian stories, 80s masculine body fantasy, 80s sexism and a touch of glitter that made everything seem EPIC, but this.. this is a terrible new age cash in that is tonally wrong, weak in special effects, tragically devoid of a decent story and would have a hard time competing with the original "Dungeons & Dragons" movie.. yes THAT one.. the terrible one... this is far more Deathstalker 2 than Deathstalker, and add a bit of Troll into the mix with a little person dressed up as a magical creature. Its as insulting to the intelligence of the audience as the latest "Masters Of The Universe" was to Gen-Xers who were hoping for something to relive nostalgic memories of the 80s again. Who keeps making this tripe? please stop.
