A frustrated filmmaker, facing creative paralysis, turns to an A.I. chatbot in order to make his latest movie a hit. The result is a series of increasingly outrageous vignettes exploring the myth of Dracula in all its forms. From a wild chase through the streets of modern Transylvania to eerie hauntings in the Romanian countryside, cinematic provocateur Radu Jude returns with another boundary-pushing epic featuring a union-busting Dracula breaking a strike, an adaptation of the first Romanian vampire novella, thwarted romance, fields of phalluses, lots of blood, and much more.

Critics Consensus

Radu Jude's Dracula puts its subject and audience to the test in this absurd experiment in creativity that just might suck the life out of everyone for better or for worse.

One day, I predict, Jude will make a biopic of political vampirism about the most pressing Romanian subject of all: Nicolae and Elena Ceaușescu. At all events, there are moments of startling insanity here.

A Godardian essay film in the vein of Jackass with a Henry James-esque tendency to forever orbit its ephemeral points.

At 169 minutes, “Dracula” may be a demanding sit, but it’s never dull. And unlike so much so-called content, which is so beholden to formula that it may as well be generated by AI, Jude’s gleefully tacky counterattack proves wildly unpredictable.

The movie was astonishing. At times, laugh out loud funny; at others digressing into near adolescent silliness and inanity. The 'politics' of it was pronounced at times, in ways. not being Romanian, I could only partially understand. There were philosophical references as well of which again were only partially understood [which was too bad for both]. Stuff went over my head. I hate that.

I thought it was very good and had a whole different twist to it! The characters were great, especially the man who played Dracula( Caleb Jones) the lady that played his wife(Zoe Blue) and Christoph Waltz was great as the priest!

An overly long mess that mildly rewards an attentive watch.

this website is not a legitimate platform. if it were, "Stephen C" would not have an obviously chatbotted 5 star review on every single movie and tv show on the platform just listing random statistics like the length of the movie with a bunch of exclamation points. they dont even try to hide the cherry picking and review fixing. as for the movie: it seems like this was actually written by a chatbot, it's not ironic.

The premise of this film is a fascinating one, but the execution turns out to be an exercise in frustration. Stories and characters that deserve screen time cut away to bewildering vignettes that go nowhere and say nothing, but to mention the ridiculous running time. This would have been a much better film with more focus and better pacing
