Otimer K @SouthernGothic Oct 27, 2026 I don't think one could ask for a more glamorized look at addiction. This is poetic, like Leaving Las Vegas. It doesn't seek reality, which the story points out immediately as Bob reflects hazily on the effects of junk. William Burroughs is poignant as Father Tom, conferring blessings on Bob and expounding philosophically on drugs and the politics surrounding them. See more Antony B @RT29664284 Jul 26, 2026 Drugstore Cowboy is a raw, hypnotic trip into the wreckage of addiction, but beneath all the darkness there’s a strange poetry and tenderness. The characters feel painfully real, drifting through a world where every score, lie, and desperate decision carries a price. Matt Dillon is magnetic, the writing is sharp, and the whole thing has that rare quality of feeling both grimy and strangely beautiful. A haunting film that lingers long after the high wears off. See more Dwayne W @Dwayneee Jul 19, 2026 Drugstore Cowboy is a bruised, beautiful outlaw ballad soaked in neon, desperation, and the kind of doomed cool that only true cult classics possess. Matt Dillon leads a crew of drifting ghosts chasing the next fix, the next score, and maybe—if the universe is feeling generous—the next chance at redemption. With its hypnotic style, razor-sharp observations, and haunting sense of melancholy, the film turns a life of chaos into a strangely poetic journey. Gritty, fearless, and unforgettable, Drugstore Cowboy isn’t just a movie about hitting bottom—it’s about finding humanity in the wreckage. The movie never succumbs to sentimentality, yet maintains a deep connection to its characters and a dark sense of humor beneath its grim subject matter. William S. Burroughs's cameo alone is worth the price of admission. The ending is also not the cop-out many drug movies sadly capitulate to. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, this is just one of those movies that I found boring otherwise. I wanted to get into the storyline, but it just didn't grab me at all. I found myself struggling to get through it at times, and even the exciting moments didn't engage me as much as I would have hoped. Overall, this is an acclaimed movie that didn't resonate with me, and I personally found it to be a difficult watch, despite some noticeable technical qualities. See more Read all reviews
