Critics Consensus

This homage to the B-movies of the '50s has a promising first half, but runs out of ideas in the second.

The computer graphics are much more convincing than in comparative killer animal movies, advancing in realism just enough not to be a complete distraction. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

TWMax65 T @RT38199094 Oct 25, 2026 This movie is so cheesy and cringe even for 2002! The acting is god awful, the attempts at humor are not funny one bit, and the spiders look unforgivably fake. The Chamber of Secrets came out this same year and they managed to make the big spiders look so much better with that movie’s special effects, why not this movie? Ridiculous plot as well and I threw out the dvd the second I was done watching it. I guess the only positive was Scarlett Johansson, but that’s it! Not scary one bit, only poor attempts at humor! See more Robert P @Superbad Sep 11, 2026 Eight Legged Freaks = a *2* star Movie.... See more B P @Bradster69 Sep 9, 2026 Not Bad, but Not My Favorite See more Nathaniel I @Kinda.40k Feb 16, 2026 The plot is predictable, the characters are silly, not funny and you never really get to know them. I appreciate it was 2002 but the CGI isn't good but for some reason better on the hairy spiders. I wouldn't buy it, but if you have it and want a bit of fun, go ahead. See more Susanna B. @sbarcenas Jan 21, 2026 I’ve seen this movie more than 100 times and I still jump when those horrible spiders jump up and eat people 💜🤣 See more Jonathan S. @jonsanchez94 Oct 20, 2025 Nice homage to the 50’s B Monster Movies.
