So if the Frenchies invented the dénouement - how come they never bloody use it???!! No, this is actually one of the very reasons I love French cinema even if every ending leaves you more or less frustrated. Was prepared for a light-hearted comedy, perhaps from what I'd read in the Ciné Lumière's programme. Was not prepared for this tense, dark detective drama with interestingly irrational, unreliable characters, a number of unpredictable plot twists and a twinpeaksy overnight change of hair colour to boot! The disturbing opening scene evokes the real-life incident/accident involving Cantat-Trintignant in 2003.
