Critics Consensus

Employee of the Month features mediocre performances, few laughs, and a lack of satiric bite.

The latest in a long line of lowbrow slacker comedies of the Clerks persuasion, Employee Of The Month is funnier and smarter than most of its contemporaries.

Amy is little more than a pretty face, undermining the film's female appeal and leading one to wonder if Dukes of Hazzard eye candy Simpson is becoming a trifle typecast.

Quite frankly, it makes perfect sense that Employee Of The Month is a terrible comedy - there's no one funny involved.

Writing wise is it a good movie? Not really, but it’s fun and nostalgic for many. It is not as bad as Rotten Tomatoes critics say. Everybody knows their ratings are a joke and people who professionally review movies are coming from an imaginary pedestal like their opinion is fact.

Employee of the Month is a 2006 comedy that tries to build humor around workplace rivalry, but it never fully lands. The premise is simple and could have been fun, yet the execution feels uneven throughout. Most of the jokes rely on predictable setups and exaggerated gags that don’t always hit. There are a few amusing moments, but they are too spaced out to keep the energy consistent. The cast does what they can with the material, but the characters feel thin and the chemistry doesn’t fully click. It often feels like the film is stretching a basic idea beyond its limits. Overall, it’s a mediocre comedy that passes the time but doesn’t leave much of an impression. I’d rate it a 4/10 for effort and a few light laughs.

It’s worth a watch. Definitely not top tier re-watch, but if you’re looking to pass the time, it won’t be wasted.
