Alicia Vikander a real cutie, who can act. Sobering to think how cruel many powerful figures have been throughout history. The love story with between the Queen and an uncommonly enlightened doctor is the best part. But the story, based on history, gets a little bit messy, or a lot messy, and rather tragic toward the end. Wonderful acting. Beautiful costumes and sets. Definitely worth a look if you like period dramas and don't mind reading the English subtitles. The original actors: the deranged king, the neglected queen and the physician who had a complex relationship with both, lose badly when they attempt to reform society. In the final scene we are told that their (their, includes all three of them) children were able to achieve their goals a generation later. Although the events are totally unknown in the US, they are presented in a way that retains our attention. A nice way to learn how three hundred years later we ended up with Lego and Ozempic.
