Critics Consensus

Despite a timely topic and a pair of heavyweight leads, Extraordinary Measures never feels like much more than a made-for-TV tearjerker.

Harrison Ford still retains enough of his old movie star magic to ramp up the electricity a bit when he's onscreen, but this only makes you want to see him do something that makes better use of his gifts. Brendan Fraser just seems to grow bigger over the Go to Full Review

Blake- N @PBSAniDom Apr 9, 2026 Extraordinary Measures is a disappointing true story that falls flat. Despite being based on real events, the film struggles with pacing, dialogue, and overly sentimental storytelling. The characters feel underdeveloped, and the performances, while earnest, can’t save a script that relies too heavily on clichés and melodrama. The movie’s attempt to inspire feels forced rather than heartfelt, and the emotional beats don’t land as intended. Even with a compelling real-life story behind it, the execution is lackluster, making it hard to stay engaged. Overall, Extraordinary Measures is a poorly told true story that fails to capture the impact of its real events, earning a 2/10. See more
Kyle M @RT77296778 Feb 15, 2026 This medical drama is fundamentally emotional by sympathetic grasp with a worthwhile story attempting to inspire under ordinary quality, quantified by its stellar leads who expressed their personal calibers that definitively carried their roles. (B) See more
Rick M @RT28141542 May 17, 2025 The 'critics' are gd mindless morons. I would give this movie 12 stars if I could. What's the problem, people, not enough blood and guts, guns going off, and sex? Get a brain and a soul. See more
