What to Know

Critics Consensus

For Your Eyes Only trades in some of the outlandish Bond staples for a more sober outing, and the result is a satisfying adventure, albeit without some of the bombastic thrills fans may be looking for.

For Your Eyes Only, however, looks like the work of people too smug in the belief they've got a good thing going to bother to make it interesting. It oozes unwarranted condescension. Go to Full Review Vincent Canby New York Times Oct 30, 2015
Most of the time, though, For Your Eyes Only is a slick entertainment. Go to Full Review Gary Arnold Washington Post Oct 30, 2015
No. 12 in the phenomenally durable James Bond series. For Your Eyes Only is undeniably easy on the eyes. Maybe too easy to prevent the mind from wandering and the lids from drooping. Go to Full Review Carson Timar ButteredPopcorn Aug 28, 2022

When it is so obvious that the filmmakers and studio doesn't care about what they are creating, it becomes an uninspiring watch that overall feels dull and forgettable even though there are moments of genuinely great action. Go to Full Review John Brosnan Starburst Jul 27, 2022
It is definitely a movie where you can start watching it at any point and not feel confused about what is going on — because there is nothing going on. Go to Full Review Kenneth Turan New West/California Nov 3, 2021
For Your Eyes Only is the twelfth Bond picture, the fifth with Roger Moore in the title role, and no series has been more homogenous. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Tom Mar 26, 2026 my favorite bond movie See more Phil R @RT79718482 Sep 28, 2026 The best Bond film. Set mainly in beautiful Corfu, though Mainland Greece and Cortina Italy are also featured. This really was Bond at its very best. For any die hard lovers of Bond, I thoroughly recommend going to Corfu and doing a Bond tour of the locations used the film. Have fun doing it. We did! See more IAM M @IAM1655 Jun 7, 2026 For Your Eyes Only is one of Roger Moore's best Bond films. I'll say that it is second place behind The Spy Who Loved Me. Carole Bouquet looks beautiful in the movie, and the villain isn't really that scary. See more Ed B. @EdLee May 10, 2026 For your eyes only , nowhere near the best of Bond outings. However, some fun moments. For example pre opening credits , Bond and Blofeld have a cat and mouse duel with each other via a Helicopter. Plot centers around an ATAC transmitter being sought after. Leading to some new interesting array of bad players. But in the end Bond prevails. Another repeating theme in this film which is familiar to plenty of earlier Bond movies. Sharks.
