Paul Edgecomb walks the mile with a variety of cons. He has never encountered someone like John Coffey, a massive black man convicted of brutally killing a pair of young sisters. Coffey has the size and strength to kill anyone, but not the demeanor. Beyond his simple, naive nature and a deathly fear of the dark, Coffey seems to possess a prodigious, supernatural gift. Paul begins to question whether Coffey is truly guilty of murdering the two girls.

The Green Mile is an incredibly emotional and beautifully acted film. The story blends mystery, compassion, and tragedy while exploring some powerful ideas about humanity and injustice. Michael Clarke Duncan's performance is unforgettable, and Tom Hanks brings a lot of heart to the film. It's a long movie, but the emotional payoff makes it completely worth the time. One of those films that stays in your mind for days afterward.
