Paul Edgecomb walked the mile with a variety of cons. He had never encountered someone like John Coffey, a massive black man convicted of brutally killing a pair of young sisters. Coffey had the size and strength to kill anyone, but not the demeanor. Beyond his simple, naive nature and a deathly fear of the dark, Coffey seemed to possess a prodigious, supernatural gift. Paul began to question whether Coffey was truly guilty of murdering the two girls.

I think this is truly how to make a good film. This made me, a grown man cry. The way the emotions manage to get to you is amazing. The Last Lines were truly heartbreaking.

Watching The Green Mile will make you feel a little heavier. It’s a powerfully emotional drama where every performance is electric. You can’t help but trust the team of Tom Hanks, David Morse, Barry Pepper, and Jeffrey DeMunn running the block. Both Sam Rockwell’s and Doug Hutchison’s characters are disgustingly and infuriatingly horrible. And then there’s the gentle giant that Michael Clarke Duncan plays so well. Even the trained mouse does a great job! So, while the extended runtime and heavy subject matter may prevent many repeated viewings, it’s definitely worth taking a stroll down The Green Mile.

The Green Mile is one of my favorite movies based on Stephen King's novel. I wish there was a separate alternative version of the movie. The movie is great and worth watching more than a few times. In this alternative version of the movie, John Coffey would somehow be justified in the fact that he is not the killer but William who is the real killer. Not like in the movie, that they actually killed him "John Coffey" for basically false accusation.

The movie is missing that layer of magical realism needed to make the plot fully believable. It’s too grounded for how weird it gets, so the fantasy elements just felt forced. The spiritual allegories were laid on a bit too thick. It’s clearly trying to be this deep, transcendent experience, but it just came off as heavy-handed.

The green mile is another remarkable film of Tom Hanks’. The acting, the movie set, the story telling… it is so refreshing going back to an old film like this one which has original cinematography rather than the point black standard Netflix lighting and Hollywood acting we are confronted with now a days. Each character is unique, with their own strong personality, each providing a positive addition to the film. One star is taken off for the plot line itself, as I am not convinced by the supernatural aspect of the story. Nothing can be said about the delivery nevertheless.
