This is a very stripped-down, minimalist action film that tries to be realistic with its no-music fight scenes and its use of camera work, with the camera being far away rather than using traditional extreme close-ups. The rest of the cast is pretty good although the feel of the entire movie is pretty remote, as though all the characters are uninvolved both mentally and emotionally. While it's true that professionals don't get all emotionally tangled up in their work, when fighting for your life one does tend to actually care about the outcome. So it felt to me that, thanks to (I assume) Soderbergh's direction, none of the players involved actually had a stake in the action. And, as I mentioned above, to say that Gina Carano's acting was one-dimensional is probably overstating her ability.
