Kevin P @RT55971421 1 hr ago A mixed bag of a Disney legacy sequel that's decently fun as nostalgia trip film that brings back the three lovable witches from the original Hocus Pocus. Nothing special, but the moments with the witches are cute (even in scenes with their younger versions). The largest flaw is that any character outside of the returning cast feels boring and cheesy. The new protagonists are very meh and their boring high school girl "She didn't invite me" melodrama really dragged down the movie. The poor execution makes the main two friends feel unlikable, possessive, and petty with how they're so upset & petty about their friend Cassie. The "I'm describing what's happening cynically" humor just feels like repackaged exposition. The climax is a very lazy and blatant fan wish fulfillment self-insert. Dragged down by the thin aimless plot with subplots that don't go anywhere. It's a low-stakes nostalgia sequel movie that only amused me for half the runtime and left me facepalming for the other half. Hocus Pocus 2 is a great movie because it brings back the magic, humor, and charm of the original while introducing new characters and an exciting story. The Sanderson sisters are just as funny and entertaining as ever, and their chemistry makes every scene enjoyable. The movie explores their past, showing how their bond as sisters shaped who they became. It also teaches lessons about friendship, loyalty, and acceptance. The Halloween atmosphere, magical moments, costumes, and music make it perfect for the spooky season. Although some fans prefer the original, the sequel stands on its own by balancing nostalgia with fresh ideas. Overall, Hocus Pocus 2 is a fun, heartwarming, and entertaining movie that celebrates sisterhood, magic, and the importance of staying true to yourself.
