After music mogul Antoine Sartain's (Isaiah Washington) rappers are murdered, Sgt. Joe Gavilan (Harrison Ford) and police Detective K.C. Calden (Josh Hartnett) start to investigate. Initially distracted -- Joe by his real estate transactions, K.C. by his acting aspirations -- the partners pull together when internal affairs officer Bennie Macko (Bruce Greenwood) starts hounding Joe. The two men prove skilled at police work, but they'll also need help from Joe's psychic gal pal (Lena Olin).

The plot makes little sense, and it all degenerates into the inevitable car chase in the final act, but there's enough wit in the script and chemistry between the likeable leads to cover the loose ends.

  If there is one downstroke, it's too many sub-plots crammed into 120 minutes. While each is entertaining in its own right, [Ron] Shelton and [Robert] Souza should have held back a little.

It isn't horrible - it looks well produced, and has a really strong cast led by Harrison Ford, and he is almost always fun to watch on screen. That said, it is a super formulaic buddy cop flick with absolute garbage side plots about Ford trying to sell houses and Hartnett is doing yoga and wants to be an actor. Somewhere in there is a good satire, but this movie is not it.

This movie is a fun watch for sure, Even to the bare bones of it you have Harrison Ford and Josh Harnett who always make me laugh, and smile lol Mixing Harrison Ford in with the newer 'rap culture' of the time was a perfect contrast and then adding the youthful spirit of Josh? ..and his yoga karma sutra side work, was a great balance to the murders they chase the whole movie. I thought it was a great weekend movie watch and seeing the character development through out was also perfect as they crash threw the new dynamics. If you love these actors, and the rap culture of that period you'll definitely enjoy this movies :)
