[A] mish-mash of scream and scream again nonsense.

The House on Sorority Row is yet another in a long list of cheap thrills, sure enough, but a skillfully made, well paced one.

With an unsatisfying, incomplete conclusion (thanks to a hasty re-edit) and sparse seriousness, this Z-grade flick is most entertaining as a comedy.

The House on Sorority Row is a film that every horror fan should see at some point. It's influence can be felt in many later films and TV shows.

Easily the best slasher of 1983 (not a high bar).

B+

Creative particulars are unexpectedly tight, with writer/director Mark Rosman investing in suspense over pure exploitation, though the basics in nudity, bloodshed, and screamy panic are covered.

A good slasher with a poor ending. Yeah, I know it wasn't the director's fault.

It's not very scary as a horror movie, especially not over 40 years after it came out, but it's still an entertaining slasher movie that has some decent acting and a couple good kill scenes.
