Liam D @Mediawatcher2003 6 days ago There is something that undeniably powerful and brutal in the film’s most infamous scene but outside of the satisfying revenge it doesn’t have much substance See more

Peter W @RT12077588 Oct 10, 2026 I Spit on Your Grave is a gritty, savage, heavy and deeply disturbing horror film. This is not one you watch casually, and certainly not with your mother, nor is it suited for the faint-hearted. Director Meir Zarchi clearly set out to achieve two things: to unsettle audiences and to push the boundaries of horror. Undeniably, he succeeds on both fronts. While the narrative itself is fairly predictable, the film delivers a strong opening and a powerful, uncompromising conclusion when it comes to revenge and bloodshed. That said, the extended assault sequences do overstay their welcome, lingering far longer than necessary to make an impact. This may be a significant hurdle for many viewers. The performances are solid without being remarkable, but the film excels visually. The locations are striking, and the use of gore and practical effects, although dated, still carry a raw and effective edge that adds to the film’s overall intensity. See more

Teddy B @RT90521672 Sep 30, 2026 I thought I remembered it being even just the tiniest bit more shocking the first time I watched it. Now it's just pretty tame, pretty lame, and apathetically constructed. Not even during the scenes of supposedly gruelling torture or 'sweet revenge' does the film flow with any sense of tension or animation. They just happen, we view them, most may forget (at least I will), and we throw it on the pile of dispensible '70s & '80s exploitation flicks. Some do survive, like John Waters' comedy masterworks and even 'Cannibal Holocaust' and 'Faces of Death' to a certain extent as geek show curiosities. Sadly, 'I Spit on Your Grave' only shines in its strangely memorable title. It seems to be made with the sole intent that it just COULD be made around this time as opposed to, say, fifteen years earlier. Everything's too quiet in this movie, before the sounds of assault blast in my ears from an increased volume. There is nothing like dramatics in this film: no music, no sense, no personality...
