It’s familiar, but very fun. Go to Full Review

Ozzy Osbourne once said, "I’m into rock ‘n’ roll because rock ‘n’ roll, to me, means freedom." The Sunset Marquis gave these artists the freedom to be themselves in a conducive environment that became a rock ‘n’ roll sanctuary. Go to Full Review

Rocks with a spirit that echoes with the wild abandon of a cultural moment when the bad boys ruled, and nothing could stop them…until they stopped themselves. Go to Full Review

A funny, nostalgic, and wild tale of sex, drugs, rock ’n’ roll, and one legendary hotel becomes something more: a surprisingly touching story about family, creativity, and finding a place where outsiders can finally feel at home. Go to Full Review

Many of those stories make the subjects sound like entitled jerks, but that's part of the charm. Go to Full Review

It’s a bit scattershot but still cohesive in its communal spirit. Go to Full Review

Marty M @RT18186723 6h I lived there for six months during the 1980s. This doc gives a good feeling about the vibe there and all the crazy shit that went on. it is really fun and captures a unique role n’ roll institution. See more Patrick M @Ptrx74 1d This movie is an absolute gem. If you've ever wanted to look behind the curtain (and who hasn't?) and get the real behind the scenes story of the debauchery and shenanigans that characterized life at the Sunset Marquis, this is it. The producers really distinguish themselves by their seamlessness. You don't notice them at all but you can tell that the interviews and hence the film would not have been the same without their expert handling of the subject and the rockers who elucidate it. It feels like they're talking to an old friend, reminiscing about their crazy days of youth. Billy Bob is fantastic as a sort of narrator, the Mayor of Marquis, with lines like "Have you ever tried to fight a hillbilly?" Bravo to the makers of this film for preserving what may otherwise have been relegated to the oblivion of booze and drug-addled half-memories. I will watch it again when I want to be reminded that life is beautiful because of not despite the cracks in the looking glass. See more Stephen E @RT50738611 6d I loved this movie! At first glance, it's a story about the excess and wild times at the Marquis, but there is a lot more to it. It's also an entertaining look at a family business and finding community. The interviews are plain awesome for any music lover. Definitely a must-see! See more Jason C @RT48669618 6d I didn’t know it was possible, but this doc actually revised my feelings about Morrissey. In it, he’s delightful. There are so many interesting rock stars and characters in this film it’s an absolute must-see for music fans. I did NOT have the Executive Life Insurance Company scandal on the bingo card for this film, but there you have it. I genuinely loved this movie. It’s got real heart and tenderness blended with debauched history. 5/5 See more Conrad W @Leaverb 6d What a wild ride. Great film! See more MJS S @MJSbunchofnumbers 6d I saw this at a screening and absolutely loved it. All new interviews, animated bits, incredible never before heard stories. It's got SLASH, Bruce, Ringo, Grohl, Cyndi... freaking Keith Richards! It's great - pure sex drugs and rock and roll wrapped in a legit interesting story about the father and son who own the place and who have been on a crazy ride of their own. Now if you'll excuse me I am headed to the Sunset Marquis which is still there and the bar is OPEN! See more Read all reviews
