Kris T @RT26407207 Aug 25 When I watched this movie I wanted to give it 1 star after I watched explanation on YT it is a solid 4 stars... for my liking there was too much dialogue especially in the car but then the rest... must watch See more Richard L @RT42013425 Jul 19 I generally love all films Charlie Kaufman is involved with- this is one of my favorites. A few things: you have be literate, thoughtful and patient to enjoy this piece of art. Honestly it plays more like a horror film. with life being the scary monster. Its a depressing story, and is deceptively about the Janitor. After reading some of the one star reviews I can see most people will miss that point. This is a fantastical fever dream of an old man at the end of a lonely life. Though it is a fantasy, it is 100% truthful. Even though characters changes names, professions and age giving it a psychedelic trip, it feels real . I recommend this film all the time but its not for everyone. I also will recommend a second viewing to really understand whats happening. Ive watched it more than a few times. OH, OH, OH, the scene at Tulsey Town ice-cream stand is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, so many questions, so much mystery. Rewatch? Maybe! Recommend! 9/10. This is not a normal film. Have you seen a normal film? Once upon a time, I took too many shrooms… minutes broke like irrevocable hours, my own repetitive mistrust confusing, no anchor. Mulholland Drive? Pacing drones on like window wipers. The camera, watch what it does. Interiors look authentic until they bite your ungloved fingers. Acting… The son, GF, and parent’s scene (the initial ones) reminded me of The ‘Burbs and the Klopeks. I have a literary background however I was swathed to a loss in keeping up with references, topics, demeanours. Fascinating, weird, beautiful, cringe, awkward, tense.
