The horror familiarity and inconsistent logic choices work against a creative approach to the found footage format, though it's anchored by solid performances and a memorable conclusion.

...When I watched this movie for the first time I had to pause it and turn on the lights because I got too scared. It pulls the viewer into the story making you apart of the nightmare and for that this feels more like an experience than a movie.

Incantation is a brilliant horror movie, one that will leave you feeling a little lost and a lot traumatised in the end.

It was a great movie! The mother issues with li and dodo were quite sad but it was a movie that actually scared me, which only Midsommar has been able to do.

Makes the Blair Witch Project look like a high school movie project. This is really convincing, honestly scary, deeply disturbing and dark found footage horror. The film breaks the 4th wall and involves the audience in a very clever way. The Asian black magic and supernatural tropes here are at once familiar but also totally novel for a Western audience steeped in Christian lore, creating a deeply uncanny and brooding atmosphere making the film very authentic and convincing. My only issue is that at times the various sources of footage get so mixed up iit starts to feel unnecessarily convoluted. But overall an excellent production.

Genuinely one of the scariest movies I have ever watched. There is constant build up - which yes anyone has a different opinion about that, I enjoy it. But there was no clear direction, the movie was all over the place. The Plot came together, but I personally did not fully understand what was happening. If you f with ritual shi this is worth the watch.

Solid scary movie. Liked the “otherness” of the Chinese Buddhist tradition coming into it. Dealt with familiar tropes of spreading the curse through video - so it felt a little derivative.
