Born as an 18th-century lord, Louis is now a bicentennial vampire, telling his story to an eager biographer. Suicidal after the death of his family, he meets Lestat, a vampire who persuades him to choose immortality over death and become his companion. Eventually, gentle Louis resolves to leave his violent maker, but Lestat guilts him into staying by turning a young girl -- whose addition to the "family" breeds even more conflict.

This was my favorite movie all through my teen years and still one of my favorite movies ever because the source material is just so lush with meaty story telling and also because the set design, costumes, make up, script and score were so very masterfully done. Tom Cruise did a great job as Lestat which was shocking because this role was so far from anything he had previously done until this point. But it was Kristen Dunst that really stood out and shined so bright in this movie! While Sam Reid & Jacob Anderson have both taken these roles in the tv series and surpassed the movie with their portrayals…. Kristin Dunst however, will forever go down as the greatest Claudia there will ever be. The fact that an actual little girl could play a 70 plus year old woman in a tiny body and do it so convincingly was and continues to be, wild! This movie made me love Anne Rice and her vampires and it’s still an absolutely visually gorgeous film to experience.

"Oh Louis, Louis. Still whining, Louis. Have you heard enough? I've had to listen to that for centuries." Verdict: A beautifully excessive gothic masterpiece anchored by three unforgettable performances. Tom Cruise steals the show, Brad Pitt brings the melancholy, and Kirsten Dunst is astonishing. Dark, decadent, dramatic, and utterly hypnotic.
