gungi T @WhatWhere Sep 21, 2026 The laboratory, the screen turning red to indicate that something is about to go wrong, glass breaking on the floor, followed by a quick flash showing the scientists suddenly lying on the ground. This is quickly replaced by the film title in large letters stretching across the screen, accompanied by loud bass. It's an interesting and effective way to introduce the film, which is set on a remote island that becomes plagued by a failed — but, as the film tries to communicate, honourable — attempt to find a cure for cancer. What makes the film horrific is that the endeavour to curb the illness turns outward and violently takes over the island. Therefore, the silicates and their superficial but rapidly spreading fissures reimagine the island as a body that grows increasingly ungovernable, limited to immobility and isolation. All attempts to violently destroy the silicates fail, and the film ends with science resolving a tenacious but everlasting problem. See more

nick S @Nick_S Mar 9, 2026 As scary as slightly off buttermilk. The embarrassingly bad props had to be pulled onto the body and animated by the actors. It's a shame because the acting was pretty good. See more

CodyZamboni @CodyZamboni Apr 14, 2024 This movie is cheap, tedious, and silly with fake looking monsters that ooze chicken noodle soup when they divide, Movie is devoid of suspense, and there is no sense of being trapped on a remote island run amok with bone disolving creatures, Also unecessary is a female character who is only there for eye candy, The only memorable thing are some eerie spooky monster sounds. Dallas H @RT53171010 Apr 14, 2024 Gilligan and the Skipper have discovered The Blob on their island, so they call Peter Cushing to help them investigate the unusual occurrences. See more

Dec 12, 2021 What do you get when you combine Peter Cushing, a remote island, and an attempt to cure cancer that goes badly wrong? You get "The Island of Terror". Come into this with the correct mindset: this is a film from the 60s where science inadvertently creates horrific silicone-based monsters that suck the calcium – and thus the bones – out of anything they touch with their tentacles. They look like the Noo-Noo from Teletubbies smothered in a blanket of snot. There is a single woman character who is there for the sole purpose of looking pretty and occasionally shrieking. If you keep these things in mind and expect a campy, slightly preposterous time, you should enjoy it as much as I did. See more

May 6, 2020 Island of Terror should be terrible. With a monster that looks like a cross between an avocado and a slug and moves about as fast as one, this movie had little potential for suspense. Even so it manages to be mildly exciting, saved by an interesting setting, an island off the coast of Ireland, and the performance of Peter Cushing, who has a talent for raising the silliest horror movies to heights they should never have reached.
