In 1947, four German judges who served on the bench during the Nazi regime face a military tribunal to answer charges of crimes against humanity. Chief Justice Haywood hears evidence and testimony not only from lead defendant Ernst Janning and his defense attorney Hans Rolfe, but also from the widow of a Nazi general, an idealistic U.S. Army captain and reluctant witness Irene Wallner.

Few 3-hour long court dramas are as compelling and thrilling as Judgement at Nuremberg. A film about injustice and war while portraying hopelessness and double standards. Incredible script, magnificent directing. Full review in Spanish

There’s been a discourse via literature that talks of grief, guilt and forgiveness surrounding the aftermath long after the Holocaust, and this film examines those conversational roots so well whilst giving us a disclosing sense of judicial justice. This is a fictional dramatization of the trials with representative conduits that enabled a character study upheld by brilliant performances from such ensemble with all the engaging traits of a courtroom drama with balanced logos. Plus, its underlying power that weaves through the taut screenplay eventually surfaces with all of its haunts that triggered the morally tested testimonies. (A-)

Nothing is wrong with this movie other than a lack of a significant soundtrack, and a lack of a decent cinematographer. The camera zoom-ins on people's faces was so unnecessary and made this serious movie feel almost goofy. Other than that the acting is world class and the plot is very deep and introspective.

It's rare to see a movie this thoughtful about the dilemmas it's trying to tackle. Three hours and not a second to long. It's as relevant today as it was in 1962, now that America is on its way over the fascist cliff. Absolutely gut wrenching and mesmerizing.
