Critics Consensus

Knock Knock brings a lot of talent to bear on its satirical approach to torture horror, but not effectively enough to overcome its repetitive story or misguidedly campy tone.

Knock Knock, which is about two women wreaking havoc on a married man, aspires to be titillating. But more than anything, both persistently, persuasively angle to make you angry. Go to Full Review Bilge Ebiri New York Magazine/Vulture Oct 11, 2015
The characters are driven by convenience, not behavior, and their actions seem like they've been manhandled into place to make the plot work. Go to Full Review Dan Callahan TheWrap Oct 10, 2015
"Director Eli Roth's "Knock Knock," a remake of the 1977 exploitation picture "Death Game," sometimes plays more like a comedy than like the grungy thriller that inspired it, but that's often all to the good." Go to Full Review Jaime Grijalba Vague Visages Dec 1, 2023
Obviously, the character abuse doesn’t just reflect the physical abuse of Chilean workers, as it’s physical too — almost as if the filmmakers were conscious of what they were doing to our cinema. Go to Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review May 12, 2022

Roth's lowest-common-denominator approach reduces a primal, campy idea into nothing more than a dull homage to an exploitation flick. Go to Full Review Dan Brightmore NME (New Musical Express) Jun 7, 2021

BallKnockers T @RT98248674 Oct 27, 2026 Complete dog shit, why do people make movies like these? See more SIMAS C @simas_eros Oct 20, 2026 Despite some narrative flaws, this film succeeds in being exactly what it sets out to be: an emotional and psychological chaos unleashed by two women upon a man’s life. From the mind of Eli Roth—a director known for grindhouse horror—comes a sensual, sexually charged ordeal inflicted by Ana de Armas and Lorenza Izzo upon a hapless Keanu Reeves, who could represent any married man anywhere. While the film is dreadful, it features scenes that propelled Ana de Armas to greater prominence in Hollywood (even though she had already performed similar roles during her career in Spain), and it ultimately leaves a lasting impression. See more TA U @Pickle74 Sep 22, 2026 It kept me engaged until the very end, but the ending is what ruined it for me. How KR would make such a crappy flick is beyond me. This movie has no plot. It’s like going on an Easter Egg hunt and realizing there are no Easter eggs. Zero stars if I could give it that. See more Anthony M @belovedterrors Aug 12, 2026 I made a rotten tomatoes account JUST to critique this movie. this movie is absolutely abhorrent and genuinely disturbing, not just from the two female leads, but ALSO from Keanu. this movie is so disgusting and i can not understand why Keanu, or ANYONE, would agree to make this movie. horrible premise, horrible acting, horrible story. genuinely do not watch this movie unless you want to be disappointed, disturbed, and downright angry. i would give this movie a 0/5 but it doesn’t let me. i hate this godforsaken movie. See more Katy G @Katy0115 Jul 11, 2026 Worst movie I’ve ever watched, I fast forward to finished it. It it weren’t recommended by my partner I would not watched it after 5 min into the show. Made me question his IQ….🙄 I now had to watch something else to get this movie out of my mind. Wasted 30 min of my life on this horrible movie I will now avoid all movies from this author/director or whatever See more K C @KMC90 Apr 6, 2026 Absolutely terrible. Pointless with an unsatisfying ending. It must be Keanu’s worst movie 😬 See more Read all reviews
