The father-son relationship adds genuine warmth, while Kai makes for a visually impressive but somewhat generic villain. The story is simpler than the first two, and some comedy feels aimed more at kids, but the themes of identity, family, and self-acceptance give it a satisfying emotional core. Although I now think of it to be the weakest of the first three movies, I still think that it is incredibly underrated. For one, I personally love the continuation of Po's arc with him struggling with not only teaching kung fu, but also his own personal identity as a: panda, the dragon warrior, a teacher a student, or who his true family is. I also think that out of all the films in the franchise, this is not only the most magical and optimistic, but also has the best animation,and music out of all the films. Although Kai isn't as great as Tai lung or lord shen, I still think that he's a pretty underrated villain who's also destroyed by his own hubris, but I wish his motivations were explored further. Also there are a few Plot holes, like how did TIGREss know the location of the secret panda village? and how did she get there so fast? but it doesn't really serve as a detriment to the film. No entanto, o filme peca por um argumento previsível e por um humor muito mais infantilizado do que o dos capítulos anteriores.
