It has the bones of a great thriller. Unfortunately, Listen Carefully just failed to thrill me.

It’s an entertaining flight of fancy. What weakens the impact is that the fractured narrative – which continually resets the story – ends up leaving everything feeling arbitrary and inconsequential.

Any good Listen Carefully builds is undone by a third act filled with repetitive and poorly done twists. Again, this may be done on purpose to show how Andy has changed, but for audiences it makes for a very difficult watch.

Listen Carefully is best when it attempts to tell a deeper story about personal growth, but its eerie lesson falls flat due to poor writing and direction.

It felt like an extremely amateur movie with a basic and dull plot line with an ending that craps on everything you have just watched. The acting of the lead character makes you think he can't find the TV remote rather than his daughter has been abducted. The vague and uninteresting message the film attempts to deliver is completely lost in the poor execution that leaves you wishing you hadn't bothered watching.
