While not one of the highest-rated Bond films, Live and Let Die finds Roger Moore adding his stamp to the series with flashes of style and an improved sense of humor.

Penelope Gilliatt The New Yorker Mar 4, 2024
The picture is carried along by a buffoonish flamboyance and by a benignity that must emanate from the director’s and the producers’ quizzical view of the original book, which was dyed-in-the-wool cliquish. Go to Full Review

Jace E @thefilmguy 1 day ago The one where literally every Black person is the enemy. How this movie made me feel in one word: Baffled. When I think about "Live and Let Die", there are a few things that stick out: - "Whose funeral is this?"... "Yours." is so cold. - Moore is pretty charming as 007. - Whisper is such a good name. - Solitaire might be the most beautiful Bond girl. - The alligator scene was different and kind of fun. - I love a good lair. - Bond movies know how to do final scenes. - Rosie's character confused me. - Every single Black person is in on it. - The boat chase was way too long. - Super choppy editing. - Who is this clown of a sheriff? - What a way for a villain to die... I didn't hate this movie as much as "Diamonds are Forever", but the racial stuff was off-putting and I didn't care much for the central plot. Best Character: Solitaire Best Quote: "Anywhere where we can find one of these." - Solitaire Best Scene: The Train Fight Best Piece of Score: "Whisper Who Dares" See more Dave L @RT61549181 4 days ago One of Roger Moore’s best. Great boat chase, fun comic relief from the country sheriff, and the voodoo mystique gives it a unique atmosphere. The villain is just okay, but the ending delivers. See more Neil B @Filmboy666 Oct 4, 2026 the first bond movie with Roger Moore as 007 this is only an average movie but lifted by the great soundtrack by Wings See more Huntin P @PaxVobiscum80 Sep 28, 2026 We all know how Bond likes his vodka martini, but how does he take his coffee? Black, like his b*tches? In this one, Moore's debut in the part, Bond gets a case of voodoo and has to go up against that guy from Alien (1979). I was about to write Harlem but I'm not so sure, now. Maybe it was all New Orleans, or am I lost? Wherever he is, there's bound to be trouble. Expect crocodiles (or were they alligators), afros, snakes, tarot cards, plenty of boom boom, and one of the best Bond movie songs, courtesy of Paul McCartney. It's been noted, none of the great Bond songs were ever considered for Oscars, but nowadays the crappiest ditties win golden statuettes, third rate crap that couldn't stand comparison with the best of the classics, lyrically, musically or in terms of the singing. Hey-ho. Menace and mischief, and with a playful air. See more stephenpaul C @ash20261234567890 Sep 13, 2026 The worldwide gross is $126,400,000.00.
