See more Wayne K @WayneKelso Jun 10 Roger Moore’s departure from the Bond role was more of a necessity than a choice, as it was clear the series needed a rethink. The Living Daylights is a return to the more brutal and no-nonsense Bond of old, and for the most part it’s a really solid film. Dalton makes for a suitably serious, even nervous Bond at times, and Maryam D’Abo is given more personality then the typical Bond girl. The film falters when it gets to the final act where the Mujahideen get involved, as the link it has with the central plot is flimsy at best. Also, the Soviet defection storyline quickly becomes unnecessarily complicated, which only serves to undermine the dramatic stakes. It’s a movie that likely saved the franchise after the disaster that was A View To A Kill, and while it might not be 007’s finest outing it’s still a great instalment that I thoroughly enjoyed. See more IAM M @IAM1655 Jun 7 Timothy Dalton's first movie as James Bond is pretty good. He and Maryam d'Abo's chemistry is actually better than I expected. The opening in Gibraltar, the ice chase, the amusement park, and the ending is actually fun to watch. The villains Koskov, and Whitaker are pretty lame. Necros is strong at the start, but throughout he's fallen off. See more David D @David2026 May 9 I hadn't watched this in years. It has aged well. Dalton brings a more serious James Bond to the screen. The story telling is more structured and there remains some welcome old faces and the beginning of a new generation. A great watch. Timothy Dalton porta un James Bond molto meno sgargiante e sicuro di sè, più normalizzato e a tratti quasi leggermente viscido seppure più dolce; può piacere o no, sicuramente è l'interprete che più si allontana dal personaggio standard del celebre agente.
