In a rapidly modernizing American West, LONG SHADOWS is the riveting story of a broken young man, a survivor of tragic violence, torn between his thirst for vengeance and love's redemption, his soul so fractured reality itself is questioned. Dermot Mulroney stars as "Dallas Garrett", a former outlaw living with a life of regrets, who takes a young man, "Marcus Dollar" played by Blaine Maye, under his wing, teaching him the hard lessons of life. Jacqueline Bisset portrays "Vivian Villere", the mercurial Madam and owner of the Purgatory Saloon, a woman who will stop at nothing to manipulate her power. Dominic Monaghan plays "Ned Duxbury", Vivian's longtime conflicted and ambitious assistant, who uses the Purgatory Saloon to hide in the shadows from societal norms of the time.

An oddball addition to a hoary sagebrush genre.... Even fanciers of that dying breed, the Western, will have a hard time finding much to like in 'Long Shadows.'

Despite sharing the heartfelt intentions of its protagonist, this dusty Western morality tale feels like a better fit for the small screen.

It's flat characters on an unfinished stage, rehearsing a bad script, with no weight behind any of the odd choices and filming techniques. It wants to be a movie, but it doesn't know how. Just stay on your horse and ride past this one.

A couple good performances and semi-poignant scenes can be building blocks for an insightful film. But when that's all there is, and nothing is actually built out from there, everything around those pieces crumbles.

Boring drags on too long and has some of the worst dialogue that causes some of the most awkward acting.
