Critics Consensus

A sharp and deceptively layered comedy that's further fueled by the odd couple chemistry of its leads, this Long Shot largely hits its marks.

The movie's lack of political substance empties out the relationship at its center; having little to work with and little to hold them together, the actors appear to be meeting each other for the first time in every scene.

I generally like Rogen a lot but this performance is bad - worse than it even seems because of the drain it is on the movie.

Crass, but satirically-pointed...it's a film with benevolence, which likes its characters...

Accompanying the actors is a sly belter of a script that weaves comedy into its setting and characters effortlessly.

...it’s nothing short of a fantastic, adventurous journey through self-discovery, romance and a little 'politicking' in between.

A surprising heart warming Romantic Comedy that ties it all together nicely. It does the usual separation respectfully. Definitely involves an unequal power relationship. Hats off to Seth for organizing a romance role with Charlize.

Not the best in its genre, but still funny and manages to do so without sacrificing its political standing.
