Jacob W @RT17896586 5 days ago In a Mexico City wracked by a recent wave of kidnappings, ex-ClA operative John Creasy (Denzel Washington) reluctantly accepts a job as a bodyguard for 9-year-old Lupita (Dakota Fanning), the daughter of wealthy businessman Samuel Ramos (Marc Anthony). Just as Creasy begins to develop a fondness for the young girl, a bloodthirsty gunman (Jesús Ochoa) kidnaps her. Now, Creasy must pick off a succession of corrupt cops and criminals to reach his ultimate object of vengeance. Once again the dream team of Tony Scot and Washington deliver a great movie. With a great Co star list this is why Washington is as good as he is. A really great movie enjoy See more Fro T @frothizzlereviews Sep 18, 2026 Washington gives a top 5 performance as John Creasy, Dakota Fanning shines with a fantastic supporting cast, (Christopher Walken), and the writing is slick. The camerawork and editing can be a bit jarring and wonky, but it's something I can personally overlook. The ending is extremely emotional, and gets me every time. "Forgiveness is between them and God. It's my job to arrange the meeting." 10/10 What were the critics thinking?! Denzel Washington plays a burned-out bodyguard in Mexico City who forms a real bond with the girl he's protecting, and that relationship is what gives the violence its weight later on. Scott's frantic visual style is intense and could easily have felt like overkill, but here it matches the character's fractured state of mind. Dakota Fanning is excellent, and Washington carries the second half with a controlled fury that never tips into cartoonish. It runs a bit long and the pacing dips in places, but as a revenge story with an actual emotional core, it holds up. See more D L @tcso9089 Aug 22, 2026 One of the best movies for Denzel Washington. I see the critics review was very low but the audience was high! So much for the critics... See more Claire R @RT83560040 Aug 16, 2026 Read some critics reviews, so had to write my thoughts. I am so glad I never listen to these artsy fartsy critics, some of the worst slowest, yawn fests I have seen have been given huge stars by these people who are paid to talk rubbish. I have watched some shocking films going off of their reviews. I will only ever listen to the normal film watching cinema going people, Denzel Washington is one of those actors, that if he is in a film, 9/10 you know it will be a good film. No one has ever said it was a bad film that I know of. One critic wrote violent and not for kids, where was it advertised as a kids film, adults are allowed to watch films without their kids!! Ridiculous. 22 years later, and still as good as the first watch.. absolute great film that doesn’t age. I do think that the average everyday person should be given a critics job… there have been some great films that critics have raved about, but I just don’t trust their judgement anymore and will find out for myself See more Read all reviews
