In this mockumentary, an observant alien reveals the bizarre and hilarious truth about human dating rituals and relationships. The alien (David Hyde Pierce) focuses on two young people who meet in a Los Angeles nightclub. It's difficult for an independent film to be decent but it's simply easier for an independent film to be bad. However, this phrase doesn't get thrown out often but The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human should be considered a movie that is so bad, it's somewhat and somehow good. The acting performances from Carmen Electra and Lucy Liu reasonably passable. While I personally wasn't very fond of the humor in this Woody Allen-style independent film, someone out there in the world can find the humor in this film so cheesy that it can turn out to be pretty funny for them. Despite me being lenient of some of the good qualities (acting performances) and decent qualities (the humor), the film still has a lot of horrendous qualities. The film's writing was highly idiotic and pathetic as some of the characters in the film make some ludicrous decisions. Another beyond awful quality was the film's editing as there were plenty of continuity errors. As it was said before, The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human is bad but it's actually so bad it's good. Some of it is, but I wasn't impressed at all. Maybe that's why it took me so long to watch it.
