Now that Greg Focker is "in" with his soon-to-be in-laws, Jack and Dina Byrnes, it looks like smooth sailing for him and his fiancée, Pam. But that's before Pam's parents meet Greg's parents, the Fockers. The hyper-relaxed Fockers and the tightly-wound Byrnes are woefully mismatched from the start, and no matter how hard Greg and Pam try, there is just no bringing their families together. This all adds up to a disastrously funny time of getting to know you.

Critics Consensus

Talented cast is wasted as the movie is content with recycling jokes from its predecessor, Meet the Parents.

This sequel's title indicates the content: smutty, silly and liable to make you smirk despite yourself.

Meet The Fockers has assembled a historic, once-in-a-lifetime cast, then stranded them in the laziest, most mercenary kind of sequel imaginable. It's like the 1927 Yankees taking on the Special Olympics softball team.

Very often vulgar and tasteless, and though there are some unexpected bursts of humor and even charm in the proceedings, it's light years away from Chekhov.

Even though it stretches too thin sometimes, "Meet the Fockers" is a sequel that works at levels similar to and different from its source and another comedic meeting you won’t mind taking.

[The sequel] shamelessly carbon copies jokes and the plot structure from its predecessor.

It's an unimaginative comedy, with occasionally effective scenes interspersed with flat retreads of the original's jokes.

While some might argue that this is not a good as the first I disagree this is a masterclass between Niro and Hoffman who look like they’re having great fun. This is Hoffman’s movie showcasing how good he is at comedy. With a new film coming soon I hope that all of the cast are in it.

One of the rare occasions where the sequel is better than the original. Stiller and De Niro excel in their roles and Hoffman and Streisand are great additions to the cast.

I personally think this was better than Meet the Parents

It's funny. More awkward to watch then I remembered. The plot wrapped up abruptly and unrealistically but it didn't feel too bad.

This is supposed to be funny? It's like they made a movie for mentally challenged people so they said "Who should be cast? Crusty butthole of a human being to be the father character...Deniro, perfect!" He's miserable, he emotes misery, and gives misery to anyone bored enough to sit through this crap sandwich of a "film". The acting is daytime soap opera quality, and the jokes are basically just one weak pun after another. Is it possible to burn a digital copy? Asking for a friend.
