Janney and Rannells are mesmerizing in this intimate, beautifully filmed, look at the difficult decisions people make to cope with the dichotomies that comprise existence. Like the desert setting that alternately enraptures and threatens, the taut dialogue exposes the beauty and peril of relationships, while inspiring to connect and embrace all facets of life. See more Alex C @RT39066819 3d Masterfully acted. I almost gave 4.5 stars only because it is such a truly human story that it makes you reflect on your own loss and pain. And I need to go back and rewatch it immediately because I worry I didn’t give it the attention it deserves the first go around. Just like it deserves five stars. It is certainly more drama than comedy, but the two leads are so loveable despite - or perhaps because of - their flaws that you want to spend every possible second with them. See more Hoi Y. @HoiYo 4d I wanted to love this because of Ms. Janney, but it was more like a Lifetime TV film that only affluent gay men from the Southwest would understand. Grieving sucks, and then to have strange religious wing-nuts sabotage it to suit their format was even worse! Rannells' performance was ok but his character was very odd to the storyline and plot.
